We were in KL from the late 60s to early 70s. Lived in Port Dickson for a couple of years and then in KL for another couple - my Dad was working for the power companies sorting out power stations & power lines in the jungle. I spoke to Mum & Dad last night, and we did live in Ampang - Jalan Pengawa. It's amazing Hock Choon's is still there! Happy memories of rummaging around in the baskets looking for goodies to persuade Mum to buy :-) I can still smell all the wonderful aromas now! We lived in the Federal hotel for 6 months too - it was considered "posh" at the time with its revolving restaurant and was the only high-rise hotel around. Not so sure it's the same nowadays, lol. Have a lovely weekend Jo

Where do you get your unusual patterns Emily? There's nothing like that here - I usually have to wait until I go to Portugal to buy patterns :-(
